Rottnest Island Accommodation Refurbishment Projects

Fay’s Bay – 52 Units | Geordie Bay – 51 Units

These projects involved the refurbishment and upgrade of hydraulic services across two accommodation precincts on Rottnest Island, comprising 52 units at Fay’s Bay and 51 units at Geordie Bay. The works were delivered in a live, environmentally sensitive island setting, requiring careful planning, staging, and compliance with all relevant Australian Standards to ensure minimal disruption and long-term system reliability.

The scope included the complete renewal and upgrade of water and drainage infrastructure to each unit. Existing services were located, isolated, and decommissioned as required, including the removal of all gas pipework and redundant connections. New temporary water supplies were established where necessary to maintain operational continuity during construction.

All internal and external copper pipework was replaced with PEX systems to improve durability and performance in the coastal environment. New 15mm copper supplies were installed to hose taps, and all internal drainage systems were replaced. External drainage was modified and upgraded to achieve compliance, including the installation of reflux valves and venting systems.

New hot and cold water services were installed throughout, including the supply and installation of 13 Rheem heavy-duty 315L triple element rapid recovery hot water systems complete with tempering valves. New below-ground lagged hot water pipework was run to each unit to ensure efficient distribution.

Site-wide upgrades also included the installation of new BCVs and SCVs, connection to existing water mains, and integration of new service lines to each unit. External pipework within courtyards was renewed, and all unit connections were tied into the upgraded infrastructure.

All client-supplied fixtures were installed, and works were completed in conjunction with a hydraulic consultant for system design and sizing. The project included full testing, commissioning, pressure testing of all pipework, and delivery of as-constructed drawings, PLB documentation, and a comprehensive handover package.

We continue to support and service Rottnest Island and have additional projects scheduled for delivery in the near future.
